Canada: A man in Canada has been found guilty of killing four members of a Muslim family by running them over with a pick-up truck. According to Reuters report, the man who killed four members of a Muslim family has been identified as 22-year-old Nathaniel Veltman. He was on trial in Ontario for destroying three generations of the Afzal family, in which he was convicted on Thursday. This incident happened in June 2021, in which the decision has now come.
The prosecutor said that he has everything needed to convict the accused. Prosecutor Fraser Ball, in closing arguments, said that he had set out with a pick-up truck to kill Muslims. He said that a manifesto was also found from the computer of the accused, in which he supported white nationalism. He also mentioned his hatred for Muslims.
The whole family had gone for a walk
According to the report, Salman Afzal (46), his wife Madiha Salman (44), their daughter Yumna (15) and Afzal’s mother (74) were killed in the attack by Nathaniel Veltman. Along with this, Afzal’s nine-year-old son suffered serious injuries but he survived. This family, originally from Pakistan, had gone out for a walk near their home.
The guilty person hated Muslims
The Crown attorney said that when Weltman passed the Afzal family, he accelerated his pick-up truck and ran over them. After this the police arrested the accused in the parking lot. Prosecutors described the attack as a terrorist incident. Veltman was sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Along with this, the prosecutors said that the convicted person should not get parole for 25 years. Prosecutors said Weltman also repeatedly watched video of a white man’s mass shooting in New Zealand, which killed 51 people.
The lawyer for the convicted person said that Veltman is suffering from mental illness and childhood trauma due to which he remains anxious. Let us tell you that earlier in the year 2017, six people had died in an attack on a mosque in Canada. This was the most dangerous anti-Muslim attack after this incident.
